Tangled Set Design from Kate Goodfellow on Vimeo.
Here is a short video to clarify the visual aesthetic for the show...
No, im not a set designer...clearly, this is definitely in the "arts and crafts" realm of set design + SCALE!!! pppffft ...who needs things to be to scale! (apologises for lack of scale)
i did my darndest!
THE BEDS WILL BE QUICK CHANGE OVER FRIENDLY.
Hinged - lock down connections allowing for 2 minute folding.
The base edges have wheels, so once folded, they can be upright and wheeled out. 80cm width x 150cm height required storage space once stacked against one another.
2x 65% angle beds with pillows, sewn on duvet cover and netted base.
The netted base acting as supports for the actors when re creating scenes in the bedroom.
2x shonky ikea table
4x Chair
The outline works on the floor could be chalk- or white LINO that is laid out each night allowing for a clean fast cross over between shows.
DOOR -and- WINDOW are words made of cut-out WHITE LINO on the floor.
The characters will create that physical world, as i think that added set is unnecessary, the key components in this show are the bedroom and the communal space (the pub, all dining furniture will combine front centre)
-There is an imaginary divide between the apartments, used only in the naturalistic scenes, to establish that we cannot infact see into eachothers apartments!
NOTE:
The images on the back wall are not going to be featured, i just wanted to show what it would look like once similar items are added.
As throughout the show - memories - pictures-gig posters/tickets- and other things that we seem to hoard , will find there way there.
This in effect shows the integration of the 'new' character into that space, as their belongings start to cover and potentially compliment the others.
And when Paul is given the flick for being a sneaky little cheater, we see him remove all of 'his' memories , leaving the apartment as it was before he arrived.
PHEW!.. you got that?
